Jessie (Pokemon)

why jessie?: I must confess! I love Pokemon. It remains my all-time favorite anime. I'm such a sucker for silly children's TV shows. Not only do I love the show, I also looooove Pokemon Puzzle League, an evilly addictive Dr. Mario-type game. I have seen almost every episode of Pokemon, and I own every movie. I also have a million Pokemon toys and weird little things like refridgerator magnets. Unsurprisingly, I love the characters, especially Team Rocket. They are all ridiculously cute, and although their horrid puns make me want to cry, they are still the most likable trio ever. I knew Jessie would be a good choice for me because I love her *and* I can walk around being evil. I bring my giant plush Meowth with me, as well.

con notes: On April Fool's Day, Ali and I put on our Team Rocket costumes and invaded the neighborhood playground. The little kids playing there were kind of suprised to see us. Some of them were afraid and just sort of stared, but a really nice little kid offered to let us borrow her Pikachus, which was great. Ali's Team Rocket costume is super! I love her hat. At AX 2002, I FINALLY found a James. My awesome friend Keith and I coordinated and had a GREAT time- little kids even stopped us to take pictures with us. And random people driving down the road yelled "Go Team Rocket!" so that was cool.

construction: This wasn't a very difficult costume, but it was one of my first. The top was made from a turtleneck pattern and the skirt is made from a matching material. Since creation, the skirt has lost a good 6 inches in hemming to make it more accurate. The gloves are plain long satin dress gloves. The black top was originally this weird tanktop I made, but I bought a tube top at some point and replaced it with that. The earrings are green gemstones glued to earring backs (they are a bit too dark, I think). I originally used my favorite knee high boots but I have now replaced those with my newer thigh high boots, which are better since they have no heel, like Jessie's. I know I have a crappy wig, but at the time, I was using a wig I already had since I was cheap and it was intended to only be a Halloween costume. ^^; Now I'm planning to actually do the right hair. This costume gets great mileage, but is surprisingly hot to wear!
