Relena Peacecraft (Gundam Wing)

why relena?: I adore Relena. Gundam Wing is a pretty good show with some great characters, like Treize and Une. The plot is sorta silly, and some of the characters focus too much on the fighting. This is why Relena shines. She is pink and happy and promoting peace in the middle of the war-filled insanity. She has a pink limo. The ending credits are her, wearing pink, playing with cute and cuddly animals at the zoo. She is just WAAAAY too cute!

construction: I bought over ten yards of mulberry to make the dress and jacket. The white blouse and skirt are attached together. I got to use boning in the shirt, which was a new and fun experience. I sewed yards and yards of navy ribbon around the bottom of the skirt to make the stripes. Unfortunately, the dress ended up way too long (I was tripping on it). It's supposed to be mid-calf length! I sewed another navy ribbon around the neck and added lace to the bodice and sleeves. The jacket is modified from a horse-riding jacket pattern. It had the coolest poofy sleeves! However, I couldn't get them to poof right since the directions were so confusing. ^^ At this point, I want to ix up this costume and wear it somewhere.
