Takeru Takaishi (Digimon 02)creation: September 2001worn at: AWA 2001, AX 2002 why tk?: I started watching Digimon over the summer of 2001 because I made the sad discovery that I had seen every episode of Pokemon which was being shown in the afternoons on WB. Logically, I needed to find a new show to latch onto, so Digimon was a convenient choice, given that it was on at exactly the same time as Pokemon. I really like Digimon, especially since the characters are well drawn and super cute, but I think the Pokemon monsters are much cuter. I considered doing Kari, Mimi, or even the Digimon Emperor until I looked in the mirror and discovered my haircut was very similar to T.K.'s. Plus, Patamon's my favorite (boom bubble! whaa!) and I already had the plushie. My decision also coincided with the first time I watched the episode "His Master's Voice" (one of the best episodes). How anyone cannot love T.K. since he is so cute and wonderful is beyond me. con notes: This is the second costume I've been glomped while wearing at a convention. It's rather scary... but at least you feel popular. ^^; As my strange love of Digimon 02 has yet to dwindle, there is a good chance that I will remake this costume for another convention. Maybe I can get the colors right if I try a little harder... but, then again, maybe I'll go as Kari. T.K. & Kari are sooooo cute!! ^_^ I was *so* happy to find Kari at AWA! Yay!!! She made all the little things that went wrong that weekend worth it. Oh, and Davis was there too. Lauren wore this at AX to match my Kari. She was soooo adorable!!!! construction: The first part of this that I made was that hat. I love the hat. ^_^ I also love the shirt, especially since it's "real clothing" and so I can get more use out of it than most of my costumes. The colors are too pale, so I'm hoping to re-make it if I bring T.K. to another convention. The silver tag thing is a piece of cardboard spray painted and then safety pinned to the shirt. The shorts are an $0.88 wonder I picked up at a thrift shop. Those incredible boots were purchased from a garden shop, and then I painted the soles white.
