Tsukasa (.hack//SIGN)

why tsukasa?: I hate anime. Yet for some inexplicable reason, I love .hack even though it's really quite a dull show. Very little action, very little humor. Tsukasa's design is sort of blah although I love the hat. However, I discovered this show when I was feeling depressed myself and spent way too much time playing an online game. This was my only costume for a year and half.
con notes: I was mopey and depressed the whole time! Yes, really, I was! It was perfect. I also met up with Kirsten, who also cosplayed Tsukasa.
construction: That tunic is very soft material that frays and wrinkles like nobody's business so I used some bias tape on the inside of the hood to keep a nice edge. The designs on the tunic are all brown bias tape, I think. I used the world's ugliest brownish greenish blah colored material for that turtleneck. The skirt is actually made of some nice suiting material. I never made pants. Those are just piece of fabric safety pinned around my legs. I folded down some knee high boots. I sewed my hands into the "gloves" at the convention, and had to cut them off afterwards. The hat is really the only interesting part of this. I made it Friday morning while I manned the Gamestop video games booth. I used those round stones like in fish tanks for the green gems, and felt for the gems on the sides. The rest of it is just scraps of fabric and a little bit of gold braid. One day I'll finish the staff that has taken residence up on Becky's porch.
